Starlux (website) – the newish Taiwanese airline receiving rave reviews even in coach.

And honestly, its looks really good on pics. And really, the lightbulb moment came when then I found what I consider a decent enough pricing which will allow me to try Economy Class from Singapore, and their A350 Business Class back from Taipei which means experiencing the GALATIC (yes, it’s meant to be in caps) Lounge at Taoyuan Airport. YAY.

This is shaping up to be a year of random trips after all.

With the anticipation of a longer trip happening later half of this year, I only had so many days to play around with for this short hop. So it was decided that it will only be 4D3N as honestly, I’ve been to Taipei numerous times so dipping my toes there for 2 full days is enough – thanks to Starlux’s bad flight timings to and from Singapore.

FLIGHT

JX732 SIN to TPE (Economy) – departing SIN 14:00 arrive TPE 18:50 (A350-900) – don’t they look good even in economy? I also figured there’s no real difference for my departure ground experience since there is no dedicated Starlux Lounge in Changi Airport and I am covered by Priority Pass anyways for a contract lounge.

JX731 TPE to SIN (Business) – departing TPE 08:10 arrive SIN 12:40 (A350-900) – this will be the star of my trip! To be able to enjoy this cabin for 4.5 hours will be such an absolute treat on the 4+ hours.

HOTEL

For such a short hop, functionality became my priority and of course a decent club lounge wouldn’t hurt. After countless planning, I landed on Hilton Taipei Sinban (website) as the other major chains didn’t look particularly exciting and best of all, I would be able to fully cover the stay with my Hotelux points. Yays.

AIRPORT LOUNGE

GALATIC Lounge (website), Taoyuan Airport – a table service in a Business Class Lounge? You get it here! I was also stoked that it opens at 5am so I will be all good and in time for my 8:10am depart – more champagne won’t hurt.
