After deliberating over my choice for a quick overnight rest after my flight lands just past midnight, I decided that this property will offer the most comfort and value since I had expiring D$ to use and with that in consideration, this property was the same price as an Ibis near the airport. The icing on the cake was the fact that the property had recently completed a refurbishment of all their rooms so yays to new room!

So I finally got my One World Sapphire (OWS) status after completing the Trip.com x Japan Airlines Sapphire Fast Track. While I am happy to finally see my status reflected, there were issues with Japan Airlines telling me that my Sapphire status is only valid until 31 March 2025 versus the campaign’s official T&C of 31 Dec 2025 – a 9 months difference! Eventually it got sorted out (and hopefully stays that way!), I figured why not start planning to try out my newly minted status.

This was an impromptu staycay due to my expiring D$ and I figured why not since the refurbished rooms looks really great on sites I’ve visited. So off I went to have another whirlwind stay! I last visited the property in 2022 and it has since been refurbished extensively including some of the F&B so I was keen to float by these spots too to see what the exciting renovations are about.

I wanted to check off this property as this has finally re-opened after too many extensions, one of which led to the cancellation of my Stay&Feast package. Armed with the recently gifted D$100usd from GHA which had a 3-month expiry, I figured this was a good time to tick off one brand in my quest to maintain my GHA Titanium.

This property was showing very good rates for some reason despite other GHA properties’ fluctuations. With some GHA properties in Singapore slowly being designated as SHN or SDF facilities, I decided to fill in one of my slots with this instead, despite it not being valid for a separate Local Experience accrual as its considered the same brand as Pan Pacific Hotel & Resorts. I’ve actually stayed in the property twice, pre-refurb and then post refurb in 2013. But never tried the Pacific Club experience – despite seeing stunning photos of it on blogs and what nots. It has always been a Club to check off so when Discovery held its sale in March 2019, it was the perfect excuse to plan yet another staycation.
