[Hotel Review] Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

Etihad ‘E’dventure 2026

  • Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
  • The Coral First Class Lounge, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
  • EY405 Bangkok to Abu Dhabi – First (Boeing 787-9)
  • Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers
  • Etihad First Class Lounge, Zayed International Airport
  • EY404 Abu Dhabi to Bangkok – First (A321LR)
  • Going through multiple hotels and flights in the chaos and eventually making it to safety

This was my choice of layover and all I needed was a simple property to get me enough rest after a 10pm arrival into BKK and leaving early to enjoy the lounge in time for EY405 departing at 1440.

[Trip Planning] Etihad ‘E’dventure 2026

Grabbed from official site

This trip was planned 7 months ago due to my lingering regrets over my stillborn Etihad Apartments trip which was supposed to happen in 2020 until COVID killed it (I never got over it!). Then came along my re-planned Auckland trip which was also cancelled last year – I was redeeming my SQ Advantage ticket and randomly picked Bangkok as an additional trip since it cost the same amount of miles anyway.

I was scheduled to arrive in Abu Dhabi on 27 Feb 2026, spend 2 days in the city, then depart on 02 March 2026 early morning flight. And I guess we all know how the trip turned out.

I am super thankful to Etihad for putting me on a repatriation flight after an extra 2 nights during these crazy times and felt like I needed to document my experience, even the ones I managed to experience as a contrast to how fast things spiralled into madness.

[Lounge Review] Starlux-ury: GALATIC Lounge, Taoyuan Airport, Taiwan

Grabbed from official site

I was super excited to check out this flagship lounge and thanks for APEC card, I was able to somewhat breeze through the chaos that Taoyuan Airport is at 530am.

[Trip Report] Starlux-ury

Grabbed from official site

Starlux (website) – the newish Taiwanese airline receiving rave reviews even in coach.

And honestly, its looks really good on pics. And really, the lightbulb moment came when then I found what I consider a decent enough pricing which will allow me to try Economy Class from Singapore, and their A350 Business Class back from Taipei which means experiencing the GALATIC (yes, it’s meant to be in caps) Lounge at Taoyuan Airport. YAY.

This is shaping up to be a year of random trips after all.

[Hotel Review] Courtyard Singapore Novena

Grabbed from official site

This staycay has been re-scheduled so many times til I’m not really sure where my rate came about or how long it’s been. Nonetheless, when I heard that this property is finally (!) re-opening for leisure stays, I felt like it was time to get this over while the Double Elite Nights promotion was still going on. Plus, the property promised to honor my rate when I re-book with them.

[Hotel Review] Courtyard Seoul Namdaemun

This was my choice for 4 nights in Seoul for a family trip.

I surprised myself as I would usually gun for Myeongdong but this time priorities were space for 3 adults (which Myeongdong hotels typically don’t quite provide), club lounges access, and anywhere that my Marriott / Hilton status will benefit us.

So with Hilton being a little lacklustre according to my online stalking, I settled on this property after seeing mostly flattering reviews online. And its rare for Courtyards to feel like a full service Marriott which seemed to be the case.
