[Lounge Review] Al Mourjan Business Lounge The Garden, Hamed International Airport

This is the newer sibling of the Qatar Business Class Lounges (website) and THE one to go to if you have time for only one lounge visit. BUT me being me, of course I arrived 8 hours prior to my flight just to I can check off both 🙂

Qatar Quest 2025

I want to first document my arrival experience at the Qatar Airways premium check in counters – after all who knows when will be my next time, if ever. Arriving on either foot or car, watch out for this prominent signage that’s located to the right end of the arrival drop offs. Staff are usually on hand to help with luggage but they are less attentive if you are walking in I suppose.

Once you are through the doors, you’ll see the Business section to the left while First is to the right. Didn’t remember to take a quick peek to see if its more atas.

By now, the staff spotted me enough to come over to offer assistance – I technically already have my boarding pass from the Singapore leg but it was still nice to be able to use this fast track which brings you through a dedicated immigration and security. The whole area was just rows and rows of counters and seats (including a self check in kisok – but why?) which I imagine no one will sit long enough on since the main attraction is airside.

This fast track gets you through directly to this icon of DOH…

And then I had to find my way to the North section, which I found out was available by 20mins walk on foot or 10mins including wait time via the shuttle train – why not?

Once at the North, it is a matter of minutes before you cannot miss the glittering LV facade (refer to main pic of this post) where you get your eligibility checked and also purchase access if need be. Then its a lift upwards to this space.

  • Location:  North terminal expansion, near the airport’s tropical garden.
  • Opening hours: 24hours
  • Access: Qatar Airways First Class and Business Class (Elite, Comfort & Classic) and oneworld First Class and Business Class passengers can access this lounge at no additional cost, while Business Class (Lite) and Economy Class passengers throughout the network can purchase lounge access, at the check-in counters, preferred travel agents, or Qatar Airways’ sales offices. The amount paid for lounge access is non-refundable.

Seeing the space in real life is quite exhilarating as it is SO BIG. I don’t expect less from a Middle Eastern airline but still, wow.

The space is split into 2 sides with slightly different set up for different functions…

SEATS

The space has so much seatings and spaced out so much it will be hard to feel crowded out here. The endless rows of seats is nothing I’ve ever seen before and while most are pretty open, you do get a really nice view of the The Garden no matter where you sit.

On the lounge side, there are no dining tables so good for those who prefer to chillax and wait in style. There are also self-service drink stations set up and a moderated food selection available from a counter if all you need are simple bites.

There are some semi private spots which seemed nice for a quiet calls or even for a nap maybe?

On the ala carte dining side is where the buzz is, with multiple proper dining tables set up and staff on standby to serve as necessary.

FOOD & BEVERAGE:

The star of this business lounge is their ala carte menu – not sure if it rotates but this is what was on offer when I was there

On top of that, there’s a small buffet set up for those who prefer (but who does?).

Running on Singapore time meant I was super tired by then but I had to eat for the sake of it, and my beed tenderloin was worth the staying up for! I wasn’t asked for done-ness though and it came almost well-done which was my preference but for those who mind, do let the staff know.

FACILITIES

The most useful facility to me is the “Quiet Area” which is bascially quiet rooms where I had a much-needed almost-3-hr nap. It is a staffed facilities and not bookable ie you basically walk in hoping for a spot – I was lucky and brought to this room and told I can stay til boarding if need be.

It is no lie-flat bed but when you are ready to crash this works too! The space is fitted out with a chillax lounge chair, lights, blanket, water, cupboard space, and reminder cards to wake up for your flight (haha).

I had a quick glance at the gym and I wondered why would anyone use this?

Lastly, the lavatory is expectedly clean and Diptyque-equipped.

SERVICE:

My experience with staff at this lounge was pleasant but I do find them more efficient in clearing soiled plates than taking orders for food & drinks. I had to walk up to the counter to order my beef after waiting for a while and seeing staff congregate at the counter chatting away. But otherwise, everything else was SOP to me.

In Summary,

The best business class lounge I’ve experienced and so happy to check this off! I wondered if I will be able to spend more than the hours I had there as other than eating & drinking there is really nothing much to do and stoning can become boring after a while even with a view. That said, if you have a long layover in DOH, this is probably as good as you can get in terms of finding a space to kill time.

Onwards to checking out the sister property 🙂
