This is probably my most exciting flight of 2025. I mean, all mile chasers have to check this off at least once in a lifetime correct? When I booked this flight, I already kind of know all SIN-DOH routes are almost all Qsuites but can’t help but wonder if I will get the dreaded equipment swap. And like most Qsuites first timer, I kept checking the seat map every day.

  • Duration – 8hr 10mins

BOARDING

Boarding was on time and very efficient and off I bounded off bursting with adrenaline! And the cabin was so busy (almost full) but oh so pretty. The hues of burgundy relaxes me and I really loved the classy patterned sliding doors. But the flurry of activities made it impossible to take a decent clean pic of the lovely cabin so hello crowd.

SEAT

I had picked 3A ahead of time thanks to my OWS status – otherwise choosing a seat in advance on my ticket would have cost almost SGD$100 per sector (ouch!), or select for free at the T-48hr mark when online check in opens.

The odd numbered window seats are true window seats due to the alignment of the seat right next to the window, and the console against the aisle which was great – but they are also rear facing. Picking row 3 also meant I was kind of in the middle of the cabin but near enough to the front so I get earlier picking for meal selection. But I just wasn’t sure how I’d take flying backwards as I haven’t tried that before.

So much strategizing haha.

Anyways, the seat map below for reference:

Arriving to 3A was mad memories and this is what greeted me. Hello my Qsuite!

Placed at the seat are the mandatory 2x pillows and sealed blanket – the one with wording is supposed to be a souvenir for takings I heard so I took it heh.

The Diptyque amentiy kit (ladies version) and the same wet towelette was placed on the console – the kit contained a spray, a body lotion, face cream, and socks. Diptyque smells amazing regardless of form!

Exploring the rest of the seat was weird as it felt like relieving all the reviews I’ve stalked so far – the seat itself is lovely and completely comfortable and at 1.6m, the sense of space is great even seated. The patterned wall to the left of the seat offers a reading light which also has a notch to hang coats.

Located at the below of this side is a storage cabinet of sorts which pushes to open and close, and is adjustable depending on where you prefer it up as an armrest of down for more space when sleeping. The insides contains a bottle of water and in-flight earphones which were quite comfortable. This space is useful for storing small bags and perhaps a safe place for phones, passports?

To the side of seat, the console where the amenity kit laid on is a small open space containing the menus and good for stuff you need easy access to, with the below panel holding seat controls with individual adjusting possible, a paywave system (which is odd given that Qatar does not do on-board shopping, charging points, and the hand-held remote.

The remote pushed out easily and is very intuitive to touches – you can control almost everything from there which is very useful esp when chillaxing to avoid having to lean forward to the touch-screen TV.

The dining tray pulls out from below the TV and is a rather good sized tray even when half out. May be good for working on your laptop too I guess.

I was then offered pajamas, and I have to say the S size is more than enough to fit me. Inside the same bag was a pair of slippers, an eye mask, and ear plugs. The material of the pajamas though was rather average cotton.

Then, the crew came around introducing themselves and offered Arabic coffee / dates and drinks and I chose to continue with of course bubbles. This was followed up by meal selection where I picked my lobster main which I saved in the system but didn’t seem to have registered. Ah wells.

After take-off and the seat belt sign turned off, I finally got the chance to try the famous sliding doors! They are GREAT for privacy reasons and truly the First In Business to offer this signature feature. They are locked to be open for take-off and landing and the crew comes around to unlock it for your use as efficiently as they can.

IN-FLIGHT MEAL

The menu was available online about a few days out and the system actually invites you to pick your desired main up to 24hrs prior. But the system was wonky and saving my selections brought me to a screen which showed only a part of my selection so I decided to just let it be and choose on board.

The Qatar SOP is for the crew to go row to row asking for meal selection from any section and what time you’d like to eat and they’d reserve the item for you even if you are having it later. So the tip is to sit more upfront for a higher chance you’d get what you want.

What is a bucket list business class flight without some alcohol? Bubbles, Rose, white, red – all were not too bad and I did try my best to check off some, leaving some for the next sectors.

The non-alcoholics also has quite some choices here! And I did of course tried the So Jennie but it was too sweet for me – unpopular opinion but I didn’t like it.

Qatar Airways offers dining on demand which means you can choose to eat anything at any time, but I chose to eat right after take-off so I have space to try the light meal heh.

The table was set for brunch (?) and the set up was great, including the cutest token light ever.

I was offered an amuse bouche of smoked duck which was okay, the tuna avocado starter, and my lobster main (because lobster) which had a good amount of meat. Opted not to have anything else but mentally noted to KIV the smoked coconut ice cream for later.

After the meal, I played around with the various seats positions – easier to see the flat bed in its un-bed context here!

Then I asked the crew to turndown the bed for me – the white bedding was placed on my flat bed and the burgundy pillow wrapped with a white cover. And when lying down and the door closed, the sense of privacy is mad nice.

IN-FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT

First time checking out QR’s IFE and my first impressions were….that its not as extensive as I thought but perhaps okay for a medium haul flight like mine. Any longer I will probably be bored. Nothing Marvels or Disney for me to binge on, maybe that’s why. Anyways, a sampling of what’s available (pardon the glare as I wasn’t able to close the windows during take-off)/.

LAVATORY

There were 2 lavatories in front of the cabin which were kept reasonably clean throughout the flight, and there’s even a window in it for novelty sake. The toiletries were Diptyque ones of course, and the drawers pull out to reveal toothbrushes and shavers.

About 2 hours before landig, I asked for the five spice beef short ribs (delicious!) from the light meals selection as well as the smoked coconut ice cream but was told the ice cream had ran out (mental note to reserve the item upfront next time!) so opted for a very healthy fruit platter.

WIFI

Privilege Club members are accorded 1 hour of free wifi even for Business passenger which seems a little stingy compared to SQ but I’ll take what I can get. The process to connect to it is quite intuitive but there are times it blanks out with an error message as well.

I pretty much slept, ate, stoned for my 8 hours and just before landing, the crew came around to pass out hot towels and a box of pralines to help us end the flight on a (bitter)sweet note.

And as expected, we landed at a remote gate and had to be bus-ed to the airport which was not too bad as Business passengers had our own bus (looking at you, TAP Portugal!).

SERVICE

I’ve actually read some reviews about how QR crew can be not as proactive in service as SQ but that was not my experience – the crew I experienced was lovely and even though I noticed they don’t really patrol the aisle like some SQ crew does, they never let me wait too long when I had to press the call button too.

In Summary,

A fantastic Q-suites experience to check off with amazing food and drinks, topped off with great service. I only wished the flight was longer but I know I had 3 more sectors to fly. Now, off to my 12-hour layover in DOH! 🙂
