This was a deliberate staycay to try out what is currently the most expensive Marriott Bonvoy property in Singapore, with cash price hovering around $700+ and above. UGH. So I found a decent redemption weekend rate for Bonvoy points 92,000 for the night and decided to bite the bullet for an experience in this all-Suite property!
Address – 28 Sentosa Gateway, Singapore 098139. Website.
Contact – Tel: +65 65776888. Email: sinsl.ays@theluxurycollectionhotels.com.
Location – Located in the sunny spot of Sentosa Island, the property is part of the Resorts World Cluster, and so enjoys a rather prime location for some touristy fun and also easy access to the Weave Mall, a small cluster of F&B and shops within the compound itself. But far away from anything in the city side of things.

Price – I used 92,000 Bonvoy points for the stay booked for a base Deluxe King Suite, which I still think is expensive but way better than paying cash, especially when elite status gets you only free breakfast as part of the Welcome Amentiy choice.
Pre-arrival –
About 2 weeks prior, I also recieved an email from an “Hospitality Executive” inquriing about my stay detaisl – and I replied that I will be on my 565th night with Bonvoy with this stay (its true!).
About 1 week out, I recieved a generic welcome email:
Then on the morning of the stay itself, I checked the app and saw this – YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.
Check In – I bounded off to the hotel early and arrived to a rather empty but really lovely lobby on a Saturday around 1pm – I was actually very impressed with how nice the lobby looked with its colonial-ish vibe; dark yet not depressingly so at the same time. It also feels very new so maintenance seems be spot on here.
I was confirmed of my upgrade to the Presidential Suite (thank you Titanium!) but sadly at 1:30pm, the Suite was not ready yet as the previous guest had not checked out. I was told that if I needed a room on the spot, they’d have to downgrade me. NO THANKS I WILL WAIT.
I was then offered to be shown around the property while I wait but I though they could at least offered a drink or something – but oh wells. I saw the facilities (more on that later), shown Bodhi Spa, and wandered to Weave Mall via a sheltered walkway. I got bored really quickly and decided to sit myself down at the Concierge with their iPhone charger on loan which was very kind of them.
It was also during this time that I was offered to partake in the hotel’s daily A Taste of Tradition session where they put out some local snacks in the lobby from 3:00pm-3:30pm for guests to enjoy – this session is while stocks last (ie not buffet) so the crowd was a little crazy so I abstained after grabbing some bad pictures.
Room – Slightly after 3pm, I was told my Presidential Suite (172SqM) is ready for me! And off I go to see this glorious space starting with the uber nice double doors heh.
There is a spacious walkway after entering the space, and even a sitting area which I didn’t quite make full use of.
The space is then split into multiple sections, starting with a guest bathroom on the right as you enter – a perfectly nice and decent 2nd option even for families.
Across from this guest bathroom is an awesome dedicated dining area with a table for 8-10pax, a bar counter equipped with Nespresso pods, teas, cupwares, etc.
Welcome amenities were laid out on the dining table – some chocolate owls (so cute!), a chocolate cake, and a bottle of salted nuts – all these came with a kind note acknowledging my 565th night with Bonvoy – very personalised!
Behind this huge area is a small kitchenette which is equipped with cooking stuff and a larger than usual fridge – drinks are laid out inside and everything is included with the stay (I believe its one-time only).
The middle of the Suite is a glorious living room – I don’t have much words to describe it other than WOW. It felt a bit of a waste waste for a solo stay but it was a space I ended up chillaxing in watching random stuff on the huge TV, while using the small work desk to charge devices etc. A modern classy functional space – very nice!
The living area leads into the bedroom space where interestingly was the least fancy part of the Suite. But it was nonetheless still a very comfortable space and I did have the most pillows I experienced for a stay. It is just out-shown by the rest of the Suite.
The bathroom beside the bedroom is absolutely gorgeous – decked out in all marble, a cute round bathtub, separate double vanity, bathroom amentiies, separate shower and toilet space – and its also the first time I’ve seen a double shower! Toiletries here are Bryedo ones which were nice!
However, an attempt at getting myself a soak that night ended up to be a 1hr less-than-relaxed not-wind-down as the bathtub simply would NOT fill up – I tried to get help and the staff who came could not fix it and then had to get 2 more staff to come and help. Those 2 then had to leave the Suite to get a replacement part ,which got the issue sorted eventually.
Last but not least, there was a geneoruis walk-in wardrobe probably enough for a week’s stay – I want my future home to be like this too! A Dyson hairdryer is provided at a corner – befitting of a Suite indeed.
Shoutout to their very cute bedroom slippers too!
The one thing I was surprised by is that there were no turndown service that evening – really weird given it was the Presidential Suite. But still, WHAT A NICE SPACE – ALL TO MYSLEF YAY.
Breakfast – this is served at Laurus Table from 7:00am-11:00am and the space carries on the colonial-ish theme with similar color tones and seats set out in a longish corridor of sorts – I took these pictures off-hours but at 7:15am the crowd was not that bad either.
The food is split into a buffet spread, as well as an ala carte menu which you can order off from – with the buffet spread already being very comprehensive with its cold and hot spreads of mostly international fare. The cold stuff is already more than plenty – cheeses, salads, fruits, cereals, yoghurts, cured meats etc.
The hot stuff is similarly decent with a noodle station, western breakfast stuff, dim sum etc.
The ala carte menu had the usual selection and I ordered a solo Poached Egg just to try – it was alright I guess. It was also funny that after placing my order, the staff came by to ask if it was Poached Eggs I wanted or “Poached French Toast” that I wanted – ??!!
The Laurus Table also has this fancy ‘manual’ coffee machine which you can order your caffeine from at breakfast and it was really a good cup of strong black coffee indeed. Remember to ask for this special coffee as otherwise, you get a cup of their usual pre-brew which tasted like crappy Starbucks.
Facilities – It was during my wait for the Suite that I checked out the Fitness Centre, Pool, and the Bodhi Spa, all located on the lobby level of the property.
The pool was blazing hot and very resort-y and will suit those looking for a heavy tan!
The Fitness Centre was decently sized but it was a waste not for them to give this space a view in a resort like this – it was view-less and felt a little depressing.
I did not take any pics of the Bodhi Spa I was shown but it is useful to note that it is an extremely expensive spot with treatments rabnging from $200 to $400 ish for 60mins – and spends here do not accrue Bonvoy points even if charged to the room as it is operated as a 3rd-party model. This means that there is also no steam room / sauna offered complimentary to in-house guests.
A fun facility the hotel offers is a buggy service to and from Hotel Michael which is on-demand – certainly a fun way to get around and to the rest of Resorts World other than walking! You may ask the concierge for this when heading out, and approach Hotel MIchael’s bell desk if its on the way back.
Service – In general, staff I encountered were all super helpful and I think they are trying to be a Capella of sorts especially being branded a Luxury Collection. But the service did not seem that polished using the poached french toast at breakfast exmaple.
The stay was also not seamless due to the bathtub issue – in the context of being the fanciest room at a luxury hotel, shouldn’t everything in a Presidential Suite be working properly?
The lack of turndown service was also a bummer especially when they advertised it clearly as being a proactively provided service in their info booklet.
Check Out – it turned out to be the opposite of seamless as at 2pm, there was only ONE staff at the check in/out area already occupied with staff (and taking a really long time chit chatting with them). That left the rest of us guests who also needed service standing around, looking lost, as there was no one else to approach and the rest of the desks un-manned.
When I finally caught a staff’s attention and asked how can I check out, his first response was a curt – “have you settled your bill yet?” – Errmmm yes that is what I am exactly trying to do at check out??
Checking out forms part of a guest experience too you know?
In summary,
A nice stay complimented by the super generous upgrade to the Presidential Suite BUT the small hiccups made it less than perfect. They can improve on their elite benefits too I feel – even a complimentary glass of something would be nice in terms of enhancing the experience.
