This hotel has been on my bucket list ever since it opened in April 2025 and the plan was to make use of my Hilton Certificates as the cash rates were a little mad. And lo and behold, my opportunity actually came through due to a major shuffle in life events. Yay. This is also my first Waldorf Astoria experience woohoo!
ADDRESS – 530-0011 Osaka Grand Green Osaka South Building 5-54 Ofukacho Kita-ku Japan. Website.
CONTACT – Email: OSAWA.info@waldorfastoria.com. Tel: +81 6-7655-7111.
PRICE – Booked for a King Deluxe Room on Standard Reward nights for all my 3 nights at about 120,000 Hilton points per night which was an absolutely aewsome deal! A dummy check for turned up an average of SGD900+ per night for my dates, without breakfast. UGH. Maybe this was due to the fact that we were staying at the tail end of the Golden Week?
LOCATION – The property enjoys a super prime location in the heart of Osaka, in a new-ish development called Osaka Grand Green area, where apparently was recently gentrified to be as atas as what I saw. Populated around the hotel are plenty of shops, eats, and similar class hotels to burn cash at, if that’s the KPI. The connectivity to the train system to different parts of the city was a major win, as acess to anywhere in and nearby popular cities like Kobe, Kyoto, and Nara was easy peasy (get your Suica ready!).

PRE – ARRIVAL – Blinded by the fact that my entire stay was free, I splurged on a hotel pick up for JPY55,000. The most expensive 45mins ride of my life ever. But I have to admit that it was very nice to be picked up by a man in a suit who then assisted us with the luggage as soon as we identified ourselves.
GETTING THERE – We arrived to staff on standby at the hotel driveway (ah the perks of burning my cash on this) and was immediately whisked / escorted from the property’s drop off point, into the ground floor arrival lobby where atas-ness awaits. And of course I forgot to take pics of the arrival space.
We were then escorted to level 29 where the actual hotel is and the lift doors opened to reveal an awesome sight of Peacock Alley.
The meandering route then took us through a fancy hallway, before we got the real check in space (never did find out the story about that lazy-looking stone right in the centre), and then zoomed right up to have an in-room check in.
CHECK IN – We were told that there were no availability for any upgrade beyond the booked King Deluxe Room (48SqM) which was disappointing for a Diamond but ah wells, the space was actually plenty enough for 2pax. We were also brought through the somewhat lacklustre Diamond benefits (nbo lounge, no complimentary drinks, HH 25% does not apply during Golden Week etc) and given the hotel factsheet and given our wooden keycards.
ROOM – it has been a while since I stepped into a hotel room and felt like everything was high quality!
The bedroom space was so neatly laid out with a cushy (firm) king bed in the middle with generous bedside tables.
My favorite part of the room was the green carpeted living area – don’t’ know why but I am totally obsessed with how neat this space looks. Completely spacious with a lot of tabletop surfaces to organize stuff
The (expensive) mini bar was well stocked and there were complimentary bottled water and Nespresso and teas.
On the coffee table were welcome amenities of teas and chocolates which was a nice touch.
The bathroom was another highlight of the room – yay to double sinks and separate spaces, and Aesop toiletries!!
Last but not least, there was a walk in wardrobe with plenty of space for luggage, with pajamas, slippers, and the usual wardrobe necessities available for use here. Those slippers looked loopy but was super fluffy on the feet!
BREAKFAST – Diamonds enjoy complimentary breakfast at Jolie Brasserie located on level 29 from 6:30am-10:30am) and the space was super nice, bathed in natural sunlight (not so nice), and sees an early crowd which fills up the seats from 8:00am onwards.
Diamonds get a special menu to choose from in addition to the buffet spread – under the Chef’s Selection section which I thought was a nice recognition since Diamond benefits are so little at this property.
This menu also means egg orders are not unlimited as they are ordered at the table and served ala carte – those who regularly need like 6 eggs to start the morning may be annoyed at this system but I find this works to prevent my from overeating.
The buffet spread itself was quite nice and very nicely presented, but I did fee that they could showcase more local flavors. There were separate sections for the carbs, cold cuts, cheese etc versus the hot food, salads, fruits section.
Throughout our 3 mornings, we managed to try almost every ‘special’ on the menu and thought they were perfectly competent, though nothing mindblowing.
FACILITIES – I managed to explore some of the properties’ facilities located on level 30.
The Library (9:00am-10:00-pm) – This is where in-house guests can relax in and enjoy complimentary coffee / tea, although this space is probably more useful for groups who need a common space to hang out in as the same offerings can be found in the rooms for solo / couples.
Fitness Centre (24hrs) – it is spacious and did its job for a peaceful workout at 6:15am for the mornings I went.
Pool (6:30am-10:00pm) – it was a calm oasis of indoor swimming when I visited and looked like a great spot to soak in the atmosphere of being able to get a swim in like this in a dense city like Osaka.
SERVICE – flawless throughout and everyone was effortlessly polite and obliging – awesome hospitality! There was also an occasion where I asked if they offered hot sake via room service – they did not but they made it happen, at a price of course. But still, service passed for sure.
CHECK OUT – seamlessly completed on a weekend.
In Summary,
A great redemption option for those with points, although I think this will not be a place where I will pay cash for. Yay to atas Japan hotel checked!
