This was another a hotel in Osaka which I’ve always been curious about since its opening in July 2024, especially because they do not offer lounge access to even Titaniums (ie only for Ambassadors). But that aside, I thought this was an opportunity to get a timely comparison to ultralux Waldorf Astoria where I was coming off a 3N stay.
ADDRESS – 3-2-2, Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka, Osaka, Japan, 530-0001. Website.
CONTACT – Email: info@osakastation-hotel.jp. Tel: +81 6-6105-1874.
LOCATION – located in the same neighbourhood to Waldorf Astoria but located on the other side of the train system, this property actually is in a better location with easier access to eats and shops as its literally in a shopping mall called Kitte Osaka (also the signage to look out for when heading to the hotel).

PRICE – I booked for a Scenic Allure King on redemption for 40k-55k Marriott Bonvoy points per night x 3nights which I thought was very reasonable versus its nightly cash rate of 55,000 JPY per night. I did pay this rate for my 4th night (Luminous rate via Hotelux) given this was my last chance to clock double elite nights with Bonvoy’s ongoing promotion only applicable for paid stays.
PRE-ARRIVAL – I applied my Nightly Upgrade Award for all 4x nights for a Scenic Corner Room and all 4 nights cleared about 2-3 days prior. Yay to more space!
GETTING THERE – We walked from Waldorf Astoria Osaka with luggage in tow which took us about 10mins meandering through the malls and streets of the city and finally arrived at the doorstep of the propery at about 12pm+ on a weekend. The arrival level was actually just for heading up to level 29 where the actual check in area and main hotel lobby was.
And what a lobby it was – lots of nice corners to check out as well as a fun animated clock of sorts.
There was also the fanciest Water Station for all guests (and visitors?), within which was a paid twisting toy bingo thingy.
CHECK IN – The check in desk was empty when we arrived so we were immediately attended to. It was a quick process including being informed of my Titanium benefits and Luminous rate booking – and off we went in about 10mins.
Although, I have to point out that this is the first property who did not accommodate my late check out request of 1:30pm. We were told 1:00pm is the latest they can do BUT aren’t Titaniums supposed to get a guaranteed 4:00pm late checkout?
ROOM – I really liked our Scenic Corner King Room (57SqM) which offered a great amount of space – much needed after 4 days of shopping and more to come!
The corner layout meant an elongated space combining both the living area and the bedroom all in one length, with the set up offerting 2x TVs at rhat.
The bedroom space at the end faced two large panels of windows and was sufficiently designed so one of us could be doing stuff in the living area without disturbing another even without a physical divider for the space.
The mini bar set up was as expected, and the first set was complimentary for Titanium guests woohoo (probably to soothe wounded Titanium souls for not being able to access the lounge).
The bathroom was a decent space and even offered a bathtub which was nice. The toiletries were hotel-branded but it felt not bad – am pretty sure the amenities were laid out by an OCD which to me was so soothing haha.
A welcome amenity of local cakes was laid out on the coffee table which looked nice but we didnt manage to try.
In between the bathroom and the entrance hallway was the wardrobe space which I found very functional – and awesome bathrobes I must say!
The room also contained some notable items like a retractable multi cable (for use during the stay only!) as well as the cutest hair dryer ever – am now regretting not getting one from the shop when I was there!
For a hotel at this price point, I was also surprised there is no turndown service – weird but oh wells.
BREAKFAST – breakfast is served at The Moment Grill and Dining from 6:30am-10:30am and I loved the design of the space, especially the ceiling curvature.
The spread was excellent, with loads of local flavours including a terribly addictive hot spring eggs – plus made-on-the-spot sushi and roast beef for breakfast is not something spotted at hotel brekafast every day for sure. Loved every morning’a indulgence and thought the quality and quantity was much better than Waldforf Astoria’s!
The carbs section is also very IG worthy as they all looked super pretty – didn’t try them but they sure looked tempting!
And then there are the perfectly cute fruits, free flow (ultra sweet) Mont Blanc, and WORLD’S BEST COFFEE JELLY!
And for those who need strong coffee in the morning, getting your own coffee at the machines is a way better option than ordering it via the staff who will then serve you from a pre-prepared pot which tastes like Starbucks.
FACILTIES – these are located on level 30 and I managed to find time to try some of them.
Ofuro (the hotel’s bathhouse) – opened from 7:00am-10:00pm, this facility is only accessible for guests in Speciality Rooms, Suites, or Titanium status and above. I am thankful for this rule as this means the space was very very peaceful during my visit.
Rules are the same as traditional Japanese onsens are eg no clothings allowed in the wet facility area so of course photos are not allowed so here are some snaps of the rest of the space when no other guests were present.
Part of this facility was also a chillax space where light refreshments were available – I think this is where you can relax after a hot soak but I think just to space out without a soak will work too!
Fitness Centre (24hrs) – adequately equipped for my morning workout and will still do for a longer stay.
SERVICE – no complaints mostly, with a small blip happened when a front desk staff struggled to understand my question about some simple in-room matters due to her limited grasp of English. Thought it was odd for a hotel at this price point.
CHECK OUT – painlessly completed on a Monday afternoon even though we got a chaser call at 1:00pm alerting that we were supposed to check out.
In Summary,
What an awesome redemption option and I can’t believe I am saying this but I feel that having access to the Speciality Salon is not a must even for next time! Just load up on breakfast 😛
