Fukuoka Fanfare:
- Singapore Airlines SQ656 Singapore – Fukuoka [Business]
- The Ritz Carlton Fukuoka
- Hotel Oriental Express Fukuoka Nakasu Kawabata
- Lounge Fukuoka
- China Airlines CI111 Fukuoka – Taipei [Economy]
- Novotel Taipei Taoyuan International Airport
- EVA Lounge Safari
- EVA Air BR215 Taipei – Singapore [Royal Laurel Class]
So after much deliberation, I picked this as part of my way home due to price mostly. But on hindsight I should have just picked EVA as I would have been able to make use of a promo code and pay just SGD$50 more to earn Star Alliance miles. Oh wells.
CI111 Fukuoka – Taipei (Economy)
- Seat – 19G
- FUK 10:55 – TPE 12:30
- Flight time: 2hr 35min
- Aircraft: A330-300
- Price: SGD$293 (booked on Trip.com)
Boarding – pretty much standard with zonal boarding calls made with staff holding up physical signage boards. Although the gate was super busy, boarding was very orderly which was always nice when flying economy.
The cabin is a 2-4-2 configuration – not a full flight but busy enough.
Seat – my seat 19G was chosen at the point of online check in and I was glad to get an aisle seat in the middle section – even luckier when I found out that no one was sitting beside me yay!
I actually find the color tones okay, with the seats looking not too worn. The headrest was surprisingly padded with the wings adjustable to feel more cosy.
When seated, my knees were just shy of intruding into the literature holder so I would imagine anyone taller than 1.6m will have issues with this. In this position, I see a decent size TV (for economy class), a gauzed holder on its side, with a hook on the other.
The tray table is below this, and opens up to be adequate for a meal it seems.
While the screen is touch screen, there is also a console located in the armrest which you can pull out for ease of use.
It was surprisingly cold in the cabin so I asked for a blanket and found it a pleasant enough quality for a short flight.
In-flight Entertainment – the IFE entertainment is limited with a small number of recent movies alongside older ones. The default language is Mandarin which can be an issue for some, and the screen resolution is not the greatest. There were other functions I didn’t explore like the flight path, music, and airline info but no loss as I wanted to rest more than anything.
F&B – Meal service began fairly quickly into the flight and the options were either chicken hamburg or stir fried noodles with pork – and my choice of hamburg steak was actually quite tasty. The choice of main course was served with a cold app, cut fruits, a bun, and a packaged dessert of sorts. Enough to not go hungry even without carbs for me. Coffee / tea was offered thereafter but I declined.
Lavatories – these were in not too bad a shape during the flight and functional. They also had Pure Altitude branded toiletries which I tried and quite liked.
Service – expectedly basic with no frills but it works for a short economy flight. No complaints here.
In Summary,
a decent way to get myself on part of the journey home and onwards I go to my 16-hr pitstop for some proper rest!
