I finally made it here!
Ever since Millennium Group announced M Social’s opening, so much has been written about this sexy hotel. I walked by one weekend with a friend and the then newly opened property offered to open up its rooms for me to see. I was blown away by how sexy (and quirky) the property is.

This is also the more affordable cousin of JW Marriot South Beach (formerly known as South Beach Hotel) – after all, they are both designed by Philippe Starck and bore uncanny resemblances at every turn. At an average of less than $200nett per night for 2pax, it has established itself as The Place to book for a hip staycation of choice for many. This, despite its rather cosy rooms starting from 19SqM to a Loft Terrace at 22SqM.
The newest Singapore property under the Millennium group, and most certainly the ‘hippest’ so far. Young (but not necessarily energetic) staff in casual uniforms complemented the youthful vibe.
Address – 90 Robertson Quay, Singapore 238259. Website. Tel: +65 6206 1888.
Price – SGD151.47++ with breakfast for 2pax for an Alcove Cosy room = $178.27. This is with the Lowest Rate with Breakfast promotion which supposedly gives a (up to) 25% off. If you dont need breakfast it is even lower but what’s a staycation without the hotel brekfast?
Location – Its walking distance to its sibling Studio M (most are still confused by the 2 by the way) and located at a quieter side of Roberston Quay so you are in the middle of happenings but yet disconnected from the noise. A good thing to me. Plenty of food and drink choices around. But no train stations nearby.
Check In – we were checked in when we reached at 2:30pm and given keys to the room. However, I could not check in for the 2nd room even though both were booked under my name – the other husband and wife friends had to register at the counter on their own when they reached thereafter. I know its a safety policy but nonetheless a slight inconvenience to us.
Room – my Alcove Cosy room was 856 and it felt 19SqM alright, but the high chapel ceiling made it feel less caustrophobic. Clever use of space and quite self sufficient. Tiny bathroom but honestly, I rather it be clean and new than spacious and old. The queen bed feels smaller than it is but good enough.
Facilities – I dropped by the pool and gym and both were nice and clean but nothing spectacular but good for a quick fitness fix if you really need to.
Service – Service was average with no complains nor praises.
Beast & Buterflies – I had late night drinks and snacks on Sat night and it was quite middling. The salted egg yolk chicken popcorn was lacklustre and disappointing. Bteakfast at the same place was also middling – and most items were not replenished after 9:30am when breakfast is supposed to end at 10:30am eg the ONE loave of bread disappeared really quickly and the board remained empty for the rest of the times. As so the museli cups.
Check Out – Standard and fuss free.
The staycation was with friends and we didn’t spend too much time in the room itself so I guess it was okay. It was fun though to stay in such a hip place and I suppose I can check this property off my list. Despite the fun vibe, it almost felt like a middling experience though.
I still want to try JW Marriot South Beach though. Haha.
