I’ve stalked this place ever since it first opened last year, waited for its teething problems to be over, and booked my tickets once there was a window for a 3 day trip to this town, which I honestly haven’t heard of until the Pullman news came up. And so we took that random 2-hour flight on Air Asia on a random Friday for this really chill short trip.
ADDRESS – Lot 1347 Miri Waterfront, Commercial Centre, Sarawak, 98000 MIRI, Malaysia. Tel: (+60)85/323888. Website.
PRICE: MYR679 per night for a Superior Suite + MYR367 for the Premium Deluxe room = MYR2,092.44 total for the trip. Bought online via the Accor Asia Private Sale at 40% off. Not cheap in local context but not expensive too.
GETTING THERE – Easy: we bought a taxi voucher for 25MYR and the ride took 20mins. No issues.
CHECK IN – There was a dedicated desk for Accor members but took quite a bit of time even though I was the 2nd in queue. With rooms pre-paid and connecting rooms pre-blocked (thanks to room reservation), the process was hassle free. The staff even took time to explain the Executive Lounge benefits which was a bonus as not all staff bother to carry through with.
ROOMS –
(room 2016) Premium Deluxe 55 SqM – super spacious with a separate kitchenette and small table. Huge bathroom with bathtub. Fluffy twin beds with a sofa in front of the TV. There’s 2 dumbbells and a yoga mat in the cupboard too! Very clean too 🙂
(room 2018) Superior Suite 92SqM – almost too big. Gosh. It’s a first that I comment that the room feels too big. A high bedroom with king bed, a TV, a walk-in wardrobe, a high bathroom with 2 doors, a big big big living room with TV, a sofa, a reclining sofa, a dining table, a mini bar area and plenty of spaces. Very clean as well!
Together, we had almost 150SqM and it really felt too big. Haha.
(my only gripe is that the website advertised CO Bigelow amenities but they only gave their house brand which was quite disappointing)
FACILITIES – I checked out their spa (poor massage and expensive in local context), infinity pool (didn’t swim as it looked crowded), and had a good size gym.
BREAKFAST – Quantity and quality was okay but they had local food which was rather nice. I also had lunch on the day of arrival and it fared better.
EXECUTIVE LOUNGE – the biggest and most empty lounges I’ve seen. Its HUGE. Mostly empty. And staffed by only 1 staff. The cocktail hours drinks and bites are honestly was disappointing – passable savory selection with a very sad sweet selection. Coffee machine is DIY but no drinks laid out at all – we had to try to catch that ONE staff to order our alcohol during the 2 hours to order our drinks. Hardly a good experience. Dirty plates wasn’t cleared for a good while too. This huge place needs more staff!
CHECK OUT – Seamless as rooms are pre-paid for.
This is no doubt the only place that I will stay at in Miri :)))
Although there is really nothing to do in this small town. Massage parlours all look very sleazy and TV channels are super limited. But good for a chill session!
