I was super excited for this flight – my first ever EVA and in its iconic Royal Laurel Class!

I struggled a little with picking a property for this pitstop but landed on this due to its proximity to the airport for the 16 hour stopover. I was trying to clock some Accor status points and although they had another property further into the city, I figured it wouldn’t be a smart choice for this time.

So after much deliberation, I picked this as part of my way home due to price mostly. But on hindsight I should have just picked EVA as I would have been able to make use of a promo code and pay just SGD$50 more to earn Star Alliance miles. Oh wells.

Mustering as much energy as I could to peel myself away from the Galactic Lounge, I bounded off to my gate in anticipation of the highlight of my trip. Starlux (website) – the newish Taiwanese airline receiving rave reviews even in coach.
And honestly, its looks really good on pics. And really, the lightbulb moment came when then I found what I consider a decent enough pricing which will allow me to try Economy Class from Singapore, and their A350 Business Class back from Taipei which means experiencing the GALATIC (yes, it’s meant to be in caps) Lounge at Taoyuan Airport. YAY.
This is shaping up to be a year of random trips after all.
Continue reading “[Trip Report] Starlux-ury”Imagine my surprise when I found a hotel in Ximending which I can actually earn points from! Taipei is notorious for not having chain hotels which causes hotel membership followers like me huge dismay when it comes to maximising our nights. I last stayed at Via Hotel and Westgate and while they were nice, I always thought it would be perfect if I can earn some points at the same time too.
So it was literally a no brainer when this property appeared in my Taipei Accor search – a partner hotel! Yay!
