[Hotel Review] Sofitel Singapore City Centre – Prestige Suite

One of my fav hotel logos!

I love checking out new hotels so this had been on my list for quite some time – and I snagged the chance to book it during the Accor Super Sale @ 30%. Not a lot but its still savings! A super lux staycation checked off my list finally.  So excited to see this new Sofitel as the other 2 are erm a little less interesting (either that or they’ve been around for too long).

ADDRESS – 9 Wallich Street Singaore 078885. Website. Tel: (+65)64285000.

PRICE – With the 30% off, I paid a total of SGD519 ($441++). Not the most economical but I figured just get the suite and experience the lux life! Still an eye watering amount though. Not cheap.

CHECK IN – I arrived at 2+pm on a Saturday afternoon to a completely empty lobby and was offered to be checked in Club Millesime. Super happy coz most hotels don’t follow through with that seemingly small but all important touch to make Club level guests feel special. We had welcome drinks, then more drinks and chocolates were delivered to the room!

LOCATION – In the heart of Tanjong Pagar and connected seamlessly from the MRT, it feels like its a business focused hotel rather than leisure, although leisure tourists can take the train to just about anywhere else. Nothing much going around there on weekends as well. But no problem for staycations if its just to enjoy the hotel facilities.

ROOM – My Prestige Suite 1112 (Club Millesime access) standing at 76sqM was almost too nice. The living room comes complete with a ultra comfy sofa big enough to double up as an extra bed, guest toilet, TV, work desk, mini bar, a dining table, and a whole lot of space. The bedroom has a huge comfy king bed, a lounge chair, a walk in wardrobe, and a mega bathroom equipped with Hermes amenities. Even their bathtub comes with considerate wooden tray of sorts to allow you to read / drink wine / hold your phone while soaking in your favourite bath salts. Cleanliness is tip top.

CLUB MILLESIME – located on level 6 with a secret-looking door. Almost superb service right from the start from check in to check out. Decorated like a cosy french dining place with plush sofa choices and having a view of the swimming pool, its the perfect spot to nurse a cup of nepresso coffee. They do have afternoon tea which is really just small bites and cookies with coffee / tea. Cocktail hours are 5:30pm – 7:30pm, but I thought the quality and quantity of food are disappointing especially compared to other Sofitels I’ve stayed at. The hot canapes only came one round as well. I know its not supposed to be dinner but its also good to be competitive especially the rooms are not cheap. But at any time you drop by, service is always with a smile and attentive no doubt.

F&B – had breakfast @ Racines and it was practically quite empty but its a new hotel still so doesn’t really matter. Quality and quantity is fine as well. Coffee was good too. I also had welcome drinks at the lobby lounge named 1864 (only for Accor members and Suite guests I think?).

SERVICE – Superb most times, and I want to commend them on seamless service recovery. There was a miscomm about extra pax charge for cocktail hours and they offered to waive it which was really nice of them (they even waived 3rd bfast!) . Otherwise, it was always attentive, smiley service without being intrusive.

FACILITIES – I had a swim in their pool and checked out Virgin Fitness too (Sofitel guests can request for access to the mega gym throughout their stay and attend classes etc). Would have been nice if I was not nursing an injured ankle.

PARKING – I was advised that in-house guests need to pay as the carpark is not managed by the hotel. But as part of service recovery, they waived this for me as well.

CHECKOUT – requested for 3:00pm late check out and had that done at the club and seamless.

It was as luxurious as I expected it to be and service was excellent including the service recovery. Hermant, Hafiz and other staff whom I did not manage to get names for was a fantastic team who made sure you are always taken care of. Keep it up Sofitel City Centre!
