Due to a sudden change in plans, I ended up making an impromtu trip to KL for 2 days 1 night. And because of my overlapping Platinum challenge with Marriot Bonvoy and due to the fact that I was also on Double Take and Double Elite Night Credit promtion, I needed to clock a cheap Bonvoy stay  before my 4-night Bangkok stay in April.

So I picked Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur – but more on that in a separate post.

So I took advantage of the cheap rates for HGI Kuala Lumpur North & South and decided to clock day stays over 2 days as the connecting properties are only about 15mins grab ride away from KL Sentral. This will also help me save hotel hopping time while in Bangkok.

Address – 449 Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur, 50100,Malaysia. Website.

Contact – KULUM_HOTEL@hilton.com. Tel: +60-3-27788888.

Location – Tucked in a spot about 5mins walk from Chow Kit Monorail Station (pinch of salt because I grabbed there to save all that transit haha), the hotel is nestled rather in a very localised neighbourhood with seemingly nothing much going around for tourists who are looking for shopping / massage / food etc. Looks like more of a ‘off the beaten track’ kind of thingy and a good spot to get a taste of local life.

Price – MYR104++ for a day room (10am – 4pm) = MYR120. Super worth for a mattress run compared to Singapore!~

Check In – Painlessly completed at the front desk at 1pm on a Saturday. Paid for the stay upfront to save time at check out. A system glitch saw me being assigned a KLCC view room at an upgraded price on the app in the morning itself but when I brought this up at check in, but was told their system shows the same rate as my original. Very strange.

Room – my Single Guest Room (26SqM) feels larger than expected – and I hadn’t been upgraded as far as I know. Surprisingly modern and top notch cleanliness with what I would imagine fairly adequate space for 2pax with luggage. Modern looking toilet and shower completed the package.

Facilities – being a ‘budget’ Hilton chain, they don’t have much facilities except for a smallish gym and only 1 restaurant, which is only opended for breakfast and dinner. As per other HGI, the HGI pantry at the lobby is also expectedly there with basic sundries and snacks you can purchase at reasonable prices.

Service – Friendly and efficient. The front desk chap even came to ask me if everything is okay when he knew I checked out 20 mins after check in. Haha.

Check Out – I simply dropped the key card by the front desk and left.

In summary, I think this can be a very decent choice if you have to be in the neighbourhood but otherwise the location is tough for tourists who want to explore KL city properly. But very good for mattress running!
