I’m usually not a IHG person but I had my Ambassador free weekend night to burn and after much researching, I realized that this spot makes for quite a good base to kickstart the leisure part of my trip. So might as well make full use of my IHG Diamond while it lasts?

Price – I stayed a total of 3nights at this property but had to split them into 2 bookings due to the use of the Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night:

• Night 1: JPY44,756++ per night booked for a Double Classic directly on IHG as they were offering a flash sale of up to 30% which priced out well for my date.
• Night 2+3: PY58,747++ booked under the IHG Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night which I felt was decent given that one night is free.

Location – The property is directly connected to the Shinagawa Station (East Tower) which gives you sheltered access to the vast Tokyo metro system as well as the Shinkansen. Located at the station is also Atre, a local departmental store which provides a smattering of shopping and dining options if you are too lazy to head elsewhere too. There is rather clear signage directing to the hotel so once you get your bearings, it should be easy to navigate the area. That being said, there is nothing really touristy in the vicinity so not too suitable for first timers wanting to hit the hot spots.

Getting There – I arrived via a cab and arrived to an empty arrival driveway on the street level, only to realize that the hotel’s main lobby is located on level 26 – this means that there is no bellhop to help with luggage but there is a phone located at this drop off’s desk to call for help if need be.

The main lobby was all bright and modern which was immediately relaxing upon arrival, especially with its high ceiling and open atrium design. I liked it alot!

Check In – It was 11am+ when I arrived and I was immediately attended to, but was told that only a twin room is available if I wanted a room right away, or wait until 1pm to get a King bed – I chose to wait it out while I settled lunch. I was also given welcome letters for Diamond / Ambassador, picked breakfast as my welcome amenity, and was informed that Diamonds get a JPY2,000 dining credit to use during the stay.

When I asked about any upgrade possibility, I was told I was already upgraded as a Diamond from a Classic room to one with a city view – ah wells.

Room – I was actually very happy with my room after 4 nights in Park Prince! The 30SqM space opens up to a traditionally modern space which is more than adequate for 1pax. Upon entrance, the closet space is to the immediate left of the walkway and comes with the quintessential slippers, bathrobes, etc.

To the right is the open concept bathroom space – a functional spot with single sink, toilet, and a shower + tub combi which I didn’t mind as this means no more navigating wet floors from tub to shower! Toiletries were pump-sized Byredo once which I last saw in Conrad New York – quite nice!

The man bedroom space is a cosy space containing the min bar, TV, a sofa seat + day couch, and a hollywood king bed with bedside tables.

The mini bar is neatly presented with the quintessential stuff, a stocked fridge, as well as Nespresso with pods which worked well for my caffeine fix every night while eating my salad dinners.

The sofa + day couch area was my dining area cum chill out spot which could also double up as the work desk is where the charging ports are available.

The huge bed was flanked by bedside tables with plenty of space for bedtime barangs, USB charging ports, and was super cushy!

Housekeeping was dutiful and left a cute touch of a chocolate square together with a printed weather forecast for the next day which was useful for making plans. On my arrival night, I also received a separate box of chocolates accompanied by a note from the Director of Rooms – not sure if it was a Diamond / Ambassador thingy?

Breakfast – Served at Melodia Italian Grill from 6:30am-11:00am, I was really happy with what I saw! The breakfast scene was peaceful most times during my stay when I went at 630am-7am and there were plenty seats available for solos, couples, or groups. Don’t come too early though as they are quite strict with the 6:30am start time – I saw people being turned away at the 6:27am mark after being declined when I arrived at 6:25am.

Food wise, it was an array of hot / cold dishes, with a particularly impressive spread of salads (cherry tomatoes were the sweetest ever), cold cuts, and fruits, and some veg I’ve never seen like Koshin radish. I was won over when I saw that they had marcona almonds on free flow (which I probably ate too much of). The sense of space from the high ceiling also made a lot of difference in my morning me-time which I really liked.

Other Dining – I made use of my JPY2,000 dining credit by enjoying a Sake Sour at Rhythmos Cafe & Bar one evening – it was delicious!

Service – I didn’t have anything to complain about with the service – all very competently executed but at the same time, nothing way and beyond. The property also offers a luggage delivery service (common with Japanese hotels) – it was very efficiently processed: you just need to tell them where you’d like your luggage to be delivered to (delivery takes one day) and the staff will assist with measuring your luggage, filling in the delivery form in Japanese, and charging the fee to your folio (it cost me JPY2,500 to send a piece of check in size luggage to another hotel in Tokyo).

Facilities – While the property does not have a pool, I hopped by the fitness centre and found it the weirdest set up ever – it felt like a makeshift gym they converted from guest rooms (because the ‘room’s toilet is still there!) and while functional, did not feel like a spot I’d endeavor to use.

Check Out – Seamlessly completed at 10am+ and I was on my way in 10mins.

In Summary,

A more than decent choice to burn my free night – I ended up liking the property more than I expected! It would have been quite an eye watering spend though if not for my free night so I think probably good to compare around abit if paying full cash.
