I was very happy to finally get to Amsterdam after being rebooked to the next day – successfully landed. Yay! But this Marriott property did not grant my request for a 1-night waiver despite the extraordinary circumstances so boo.
Address – Stadhouderskade 12, 1054 ES Amsterdam, Netherlands. Website.
Contact – +31 20 607 5555. Email: Amsterdam@Marriott.com.
Location – The property is located in the Leidseplein neighborhood with walking distance to the city’s iconic attractions. I was struggling to decide between this and Renaissance which is near the Central Station but ultimately picked this after ploughing through online reviews.
The funny thing is, on the map, the property seems to have a less than ideal location but in reality its superb – walking distance to most stuff, the Hop On Hop Off bus less than 3mins away, and tram ride 5mins out. If you are feeling up to it, I believe one can pretty much walk everywhere if the weather holds up.

Price – EUR194 per night booked for a Deluxe Room King under the “Bonvoy Escapes Member Sale” which was actually the Cyber Sale offering 25% for rooms booked via their app. With the value add of M Club, I thought the value was pretty alright.
Pre-arrival – I received a pre-arrival email about 5 days out.
3 days out, I received an email proper:
When the online check in was done, I also used the in-app chat to request for the Junior Suite as I see that it was still selling for my dates and very quickly they said yes. Yay.
Getting There – There was a direct bus option from the airport but I decided to Uber it as I was arriving with luggage. The 30-min ride costs EUR22 which was okay given that I rode in comfort to the hotel.
Check In – I arrived to a relatively empty lobby at 2:30pm and was attended to quickly. It took no time for me to be checked in as I had communicated in-app about my incident and the front desk was expecting me, though he could be less robotic about. Anyhow, I was off in 10mins, feeling super glad that I was finally in Amsterdam.
The lobby looked modern and definitely refreshed and very spacious – they even had a little refreshment stand for guests which I felt was quite thoughtful.
Room – My Junior Suite (40SqM) was a corner room and indeed good space even if just for 1pax! The door opens to a corridor of sorts containing the wardrobe essentials including an umbrella, then the mini bar + stuff.
A turn left leads into the main bedroom area where a 2-seater sofa lays alongside the bed, creating quite a nice wide alleyway to move stuff around.
The bed is super comfy, and at an angle is a loungey seater useful for keeping personal belongings close by if need be.
In the corner table sat a welcome amenity of some plums as well as some chocolates + a note.
The bathroom is decently spacious with plenty of countertop space, open concept toilet, and standing shower space. Toiletries here are thisworks branded which I’ve seen in most Marriott hotels these days. Interestingly, there was another set of travel sized Rituals toiletries – but that did not get refilled during the stay.
This is also where I found out that Amsterdam’s tap water is drinkable and guests are encouraged to refill these 2 bottles directly from the app if need be.
One thing to note this property does not stock bathroom amenities on arrival, but rather you have to request for them including dental kits.
On my check out day, I was also asked to move to a regular Deluxe room if I needed the space any later than 12pm which I did – the room type is similar but just missing the spacious corner turn.
M Club – The M Club is an unmanned space unless during meal timings so eligible guests enter using keycards. It was also recently refurbished and indeed looks like it – with cheery colors and seating spots planned for solo, 2pax, or bigger groups. I was actually quite contented with the design until 2pax starting taking zoom meetings ALOUD in the open space loud enough for everyone to hear. Seriously??
In terms of hours, its apparently open 24 hours where non-alcoholic drinks and simple snacks are provided: they call this Grab & Go.
6:30am-11:00am – Breakfast
If breakfast is not included in the room rate, an upcharge of EUR39 is required to dine in the restaurant during this time – not for me. Otherwise, offerings in the M Club were pretty decent although expectedly basic options like scrambled eggs, bacon, and plenty of cheese and cold cuts of course. Coffee was not too and did well to start my day each morning.
5:30pm-9:30pm – Evening Bites
There were some substantial hot food on offer, and I appreciated the thoughtful rotations of choices except for one evening where the only meat was lamb which I don’t eat.
There was also an array of healthy salads which enabled me to clock my greens while on holiday yay.
5:30pm-9:30pm – Open Bar
4 hours of alcohol is quite generous and there were plenty to choose from – red, white, rose, beers which I felt was plenty enough.
Facilities – the Fitness centre was a nice set up of duplex level – don’t see this very often but I think it would suit anti-social workout peeps very well. Good enough array of equipment as well!
Service – other than the robotic check in, the rest of whom I encountered were all really nice including housekeeping, especially the gentleman at the arrival walkway who was such a gentle giant and took great care of me during my Uber waits and departure.
Check Out – I hopped off to my next property around 1pm and the checkout process was painless.
In Summary,
Did not regret choosing this over Renaissance – very happy with my stay!
