[Lounge Review] Qatar Airways Platinum & Gold Lounge North, Hamed International Airport

This is the most pedestrian of my Qatar Business Class Lounges this trip and thank goodness for my OWS as I was coming back on a Business Lite fare (website). But its not bad by any means and certainly better than some I’ve gone to.

Qatar Quest 2025

The lounge is located in the same North side as The Garden and I had already deciuded to come here instead of the South version due to its ala carte dining but I ended up not utilizing it at all as I was saving space for on-board dining. In any case this was nearer to my departure gate.

  • Location: – Located on Level 2 next to gate C14.
  • Opening hours: 24hours
  • Access: can be accessed by eligible First Class and Business Class passengers or if by status:
Grabbed from official site

Seats:

As with all QR lounges in DOH there were rows and rows of seats peppered along a long hall, with plenty of configurations for everyone – dining, chillax, people watch, napping etc. At this stage, I no longer have the vocabulary to describe lounge seats so I hope these pics will do the trick.

Food & Beverage (menu)

There was no indication of any ala carte dining available despite the hyperlinked menu being publicly available but a buffet set up is available which looked okay.

The drinks though was a really weird set up. In this huge space was only ONE beverage set up where both non-alcoholic and alcohol was served – no other self-service station was available. This meant that there was a snaking queue for anyone who needs any drink, even a glass of water. Not sure if this was their way of throttling alcoholic consumption but I thought it was rather inefficient – photos of the queue to get my glass of white wine shown below for reference. Adding to the process was the lack of any menu so passengers ended up having to ask what is available especially for cocktails which added multiple snails to the minds of the restless crowd.

Very unlike QR I must say.

The lavatories were as expected very clean and equipped with Diptyque toiletries.

Service:

Very low touch although one staff came by with a glass of red while I was still enjoying my glass of white, put it down on my table, and said politely that they only allow one alcoholic drink at any one time so she will be removing my white from me. I clarified that I didn’t order any red though – she apologized and quickly removed it and I later saw her give it to the correct table. I was quite amused haha.

In Summary,

I would peg this as an okay lounge but perhaps more perfunctory than aspirational compared to its glitzier siblings. For status-based access, its more than okay though.
