Etihad First Class Lounge, Zayed International AirportEY404 Abu Dhabi to Bangkok – First (A321LR)- Going through multiple hotels and flights in the chaos and eventually making it to safety
This was my choice of layover and all I needed was a simple property to get me enough rest after a 10pm arrival into BKK and leaving early to enjoy the lounge in time for EY405 departing at 1440.
Address – 599/9 Lat Krabang Road, Lat Krabang, Bangkok, Thailand, 10520. Website.
Contact – Email: cy.bkkcy.reservations@courtyard.com. Tel: +66 2-7803588.
Location – the only reason why I picked this property is its proximity to the airport but there is a small mall as well as a smattering of F&B around it as well if you need it.

Price – THB5,691 booked directly under the Amex Business Card Rate for a Superior Guest Room which is not the cheapest one-nighter in the city but I guess I am paying more for convenience this time. On points, its actually very reasonable 19,500 Marriott Bonvoy points.
Getting There – shuttle service which could work if your timing aligns as the service only runs hourly on the dot. But you have to make a booking for it either via the pre-arrival email (more on this later).
Pre-arrival – I received a pre-arrival welcome email 4 days prior with a generic welcome plus the shuttle service info again.
Getting to the Shuttle – its useful to note that the shuttle pick up is exactly at signboard no. 8 like what the document mentioned. On my arrival about 20mins prior to 11:00pm, the shuttle did not arrive on time, but rather about 15mins later than scheduled. The journey took 15-mins and the driver helped with the luggage of each passenger. I arrived at the property at 1130pm. The hotel does offer an airport pick up for THB1,200S (~SGD48) if you prefer a more seamless arrival, or can always Grab (was not a safe option for me as I was solo and arriving late night).
Check In – Check in was seamless as it should be for a late arrival where guests just want to get to the room soonest possible. I was given my choice of elite welcome amenity and I picked breakfast of course. I was informed that an upgrade to a Balcony Room has been accorded, and also asked if I need a shuttle booking for next day and confirmed swiftly.
The lobby was looking very nice and modern being a new-ish property but thought showing pictures of it in the daytime will show its designs better. A good looking Courtyard I must say! It also feels kind of weird that a huge resort-y property will spring up near the airport in the middle of nowhere but hey whatever works.
Room – My Deluxe Balcony Guest Room (29SqM) was a really long walk from the elevators, but I’m the extra steps were worth it when I open the door to a new-ish modern space as my home for the night (pardon the somewhat unpolished pics as it was really late and I was super tired).
The hallway was spacious and contained the wardrobe and a luggage space, plus a very simple mini bar set up.
Next to this is the bathroom which offered plenty of countertop space and was more than enough for one pax. Toiletries offered were Nirvae branded which is consistent with the brand.
The main bedroom space was very clean, felt very cosy, with it’s king bed flanked by bedside tables, a chaise lounge, and a separate chair + coffee table.
Things I thought was really nice were the towel elephant as well as total of 6 pillows of varying firmness. Awesome for a Courtyard!
I had a great night sleep and woke up to gorgeous view from the balcony.
Breakfast – served at Chon Som All Day Dining from 6:00am-10:30am, the space was expansive and offered plenty of seatings for early birds and after. I super liked that they start at 6:00am as it allowed more people to enjoy their first meal of the day before heading to the airport (why else would people stay here?).
The spread was very impressive and had everything one would need for a good start to the morning, including a wide variety of healthy options like fruits (it is Asia after all). Taste was great but I wish they had stronger coffee though.
The egg station staff was very friendly and I was impressed by the egg menu – my first time ever seeing a over-medium option!
Facilities – Did not have time to use but definitely hopped by the Fitness Centre which looked very decent, even a treadmill with a view to boot.
The pool was gorgeous and incredibly resort-y – felt more like Bali than Bangkok honestly.
Elites are also invited to enjoy a drink of choice at the Lobby Deli from 8:00am – midnight and I enjoyed my jar of Silk Tea very much before my depature.
The property also offers a simple spa with reasonable prices but unfortunately the timing did not work out for me this trip, otherwise would have loved to try it.
Service – rather low-touch for my stay so no complaints here.
Check Out – seamless and hopped onto the same shuttle to head back to the hotel to start the actual fun.
In Summary,
great choice for a layover in BKK the next time for sure!
