[Flight Review] Singapore Airlines SQ801 Beijing to Singapore (Business)

Terracotta Tripping 2024

I was super glad to be going home after a busy day! Yay.

  • SQ801 depart OEK 00:05 arrive SIN 06:20
  • Aircraft: A350-900
  • Flight time: 6hrs 15mins
  • Seat: 12K
  • Cost: 43,000 Krisflyer miles (Business Saver) + $41 taxes

Boarding was orderly though with a slight delay and I was on my way home soon enough.

Seat

At the point of booking, the only window seat available with the seat staggered closer to the window was 20K in the mini cabin. But my random search back proved useful when I spotted 12K opened up a few days out!

The cabin was pretty full and I was glad to settle into my personal space for the next 6hours. This was the same seat I took on my way here so here are a few cursory pics of my flight. Hot towels and pre-departure drinks were offered but no alcohol were to be served while on the ground so I was happy with water while waiting to be able to get some bubbles.

Food & Beverage

Warm nuts and my glass of bubbles came along fast enough after takeoff, and I opted to have my meal then instead of nearer to arrival.

It was a supper service on this flight and the menu is short, with no Book The Cook available.

I picked the dim sum platter as I don’t think I’ve ever had that on board before – and it was served with accompanying chilli sauce and a fruit bowl. It was delicious (or maybe it was the imaginary starvation from Air China lounge) though too little for my liking as I didn’t take the yam cakes. I had my Illy coffee fix alongside more bubbles thereafter.

As tired as I was, I only managed about 2 hours of sleep before getting up to stone-watch some movies. But then I got hungry again and asked if I can have some nuts and of course more bubbles. The crew surprised me by offering a proper breakfast to which I said yes, and yes I asked for the dim sum platter again.

It was landing time soon after and also marked the end of my Terracotta adventure.

Service

Service on this flight I thought was great, and better than what I experienced on my way here. I suppose its a luck thingy but actually as long as I get fed and in a SQ business class seat, the rest are really minor stuff to me.

Til next time!
