[Hotel Review] Lisbon Marriott Hotel

TAP Air Portugal Traipse

This was my choice of a quick one-nighter before heading back home – decided to spring for this versus Moxy as the incremental cost can cover dinner – which turned out to be the right decision.

Address – Avenida dos Combatentes 45, Lisbon, Portugal, 1600-042. Website.

Contact – +351 21-7235400. Email: lisbon@marriotthotels.com.

Location – I honestly have no idea where its located as my flight from Amsterdam was delayed for 2hours and then my airport pick up didn’t turn up so it was all a blur – I just wanted to get to the hotel asap.

Price – EUR134 booked for Comfort King under the “Bonvoy Escapes Member Sale” which was actually the Cyber Sale offering 25% for rooms booked via their app.

Pre-arrival – I received a generic email about 5 days out, and I also reached out via the in-app chat to ask for an upgrade to the Signature Room as that’s the refurbished one. Was told it will be assigned on arrival based on availability so ah wells.

Getting There – with my airport pick up missing in action, I took an Uber for 1/4 of the price. So actually I ended up saving money. Hah.

Check In – it was actually quite fast but I was super tired and grumpy so it probably felt much longer. The staff was actually very kind and quick pointed out to me that the Club Lounge’s evening food had about an hour left so I can get to it in time. I also confirmed that I had been upgraded to a Signature King, yay.

I asked about a breakfast box but was told that (unlike The Ivens), there would be no one to deliver it to the room at that hour (4am) and I need to collect it myself. Oh wells.

Here’s also a letter if what I would have had access to if this was a longer stay.

The staff also passed me a card which I thought was a welcome drink at first, but later realized that it can only be redeemed if I done at the restaurant. Goodbye drink.

Room – My Signature Deluxe King (26SqM) looked exactly like its pics and certainly a better choice than its un-renovated siblings. Doorway opens up to a narrow corridor featuring the wardrobe and luggage space to the right.

The bedroom main space is brightly lit in a modern design – light beige tones are very soothing I realized. The in-room phone though is from its past life and I wonder if it still works?

The rest of this space is functional – single seater sofa + benchtop near the TV for getting stuff organized.

Some welcome snacks were laid out on the tabletop with a welcome note – a nice touch!

The bathroom is quintessentially Marriott so no surprises here, including the thisworks toiletries.

Executive Lounge – the Lounge is open from 6:00am-11:00pm and located on the lobby level in an elongated seating arrangement which made walking through it feel quite tedious. The evening also had plenty of guests so a hearty crowd made it very hard to get decent pics so here goes some of my attempts.

The spread however was impressive quality even though not a wide variety – the cheeses were delicious and the Spanish suckling pig was crazy good. I was secretly bummed I had so little time here.

For some reason, I only took one pic of the alcohol on offer but here goes for what its worth.

Facilities – For the first time during this trip, I did not check out the Fitness Centre. Because too tired.

Service – No complaints, and I eventually collected my breakfast box when I was leaving the property at 4:30am which I ended up offering to the Uber driver.

In Summary,

Definitely a better choice than Moxy to spend the night in!
