[Flight Review] TAP8435 / SQ355 Milan MXP to Singapore SIN – Business

TAP Air Portugal Traipse

What an adventure trying to get to the boarding gate for this!

My flight from Lisbon to Milan ended up departing one whole hour late so my connecting time at MXP was shortened to a mere 40mins from the original 1hr 40mins. But I made it by sprinting as fast as I can through MXP, customs control, and arrived at my boarding gate less than ideal from the cardio workout.

  • Flight Timing – TP8435 / SQ355 depart MXP12:40 arrive SIN 07:35
  • Duration – 11hrs and 55mins
  • Aircraft – Airbus 350-900
  • Seat – 14K
  • Cost – USD1.7k (entire itenary)

Boarding – as with most SQ flights I’ve experienced, boarding was on time and orderly. This time, I was honestly just happy to be able to board. There is something about boarding a SQ business cabin that immediately relaxes me.

Seat – I wasn’t lucky with the bulkhead seat this time but 14K will do! Some custmary pics of the same seat I got on my way out ex-SIN, just non bulk-head.

Champagne was of course my choice of pre-departure drink but in my settling down frenzy I didn’t take any pics sob. Weirdly enough, there were no warm nuts to accompany it.

The amenity kit this time was the same Le Labo one which I requested for:

Anyways, this long haul provides lunch and breakfast and the Book-The-Cook selection was arguebly smaller than ex-SIN.

The in-flight main course was a mere 3 choices…

Tried to take pics of the paper menu so here goes:

The chicken satay went very well with the french red!

I decided not to do BTC as the in-flight seabass and octopus looked really good until I realized that ala the appetizer is also octopus so by the time the main dish came, it was a little octopus overload.

Ended this meal with a crazy nice pistachio ice cream and my black coffee.

After the meal, I quickly settled into bed mode but then I realized that I was missing a blanket – weird thing to be missed out but a request for it was quickly fulfilled.

Around the 5hr mark, the crew came around with a snack basket which I took a bad pic of given the dark cabin but some nuts are always welcomed. By this time I was not getting decent sleep due to my neighbour sneezing loudly every 15mins so might as well eat.

At about 3hrs prior to landing, breakfast service commenced. The Book The Cook and in-flight menu looks a little sad but business class meal is always still nice no matter.

I honestly didn’t know what to pick so just went for the most Asian thing on the menu even though I don’t take vermicelli – eating just the ingredients / garnishes felt right at this point haha. But not filling enough so I asked for muesli which was strangely not offered.

In-flight Entertainment – nothing had changed versus ex-SIN so stealing my own pics from the ex-SIN flight below just for reference:

Lavatories – Nothing out of the ordinary, kept clean throughout, and well stocked with amenities.

Service – nothing memorable compared to my way out ex-SIN but nothing to complain about either – a rather standard SQ business class service.

In Summary,

Still no doubt a great way to fly and definitely a good long haul to end my TAP Traipse with!
